Northeastern Captures 12th Consecutive CAA Women's Rowing Championship

FINAL RESULTS

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. (May 16, 2026) – Northeastern captured its 12th consecutive CAA Women’s Rowing Championship and 15th overall by sweeping all three races on Saturday morning at the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J.

The Huskies, who set new conference records in all three races, finished with 42 points in the championship to take the top spot. UConn turned in its best performance at the event, placing second in all three races to finish second overall with 36 points. Drexel was third with 28 points, followed by Villanova (25), UC San Diego (16), UAlbany (9) and Monmouth (4).

With the CAA title, Northeastern earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Rowing Championship.

In the 1st Varsity 8 race, Northeastern steadily pulled away to win the event for the sixth straight year with a time of 6:28.229. The time was the fastest recorded in the event at the CAA Championship by more than two seconds. Earning silver with a time of 6:36.394 was UConn and third place went to Drexel with a time of 6:38.183.

Northeastern cruised to victory in the 2nd Varsity 8 race, shattering the CAA record in the event by more than eight seconds with a time of 6:32.594. The Huskies had a margin of 9.644 seconds over second-place UConn, which finished in a time of 6:42.238. Third place went to Villanova with a time of 6:47.649.

In a competitive three-team battle, Northeastern claimed the Varsity 4 title with a time of 7:20.309. UConn made a late charge to take second place with a time of 7:23.305 and Drexel took third with a time of 7:24.029. The Huskies’ performance in the Varsity 4 set a record for the event at the CAA Championship by more than seven seconds.

In the 3rd Varsity 8 competition, which isn’t included in the team points total, Northeastern turned in a dominant performance with a winning time of 6:46.924, topping second-place UConn (6:58.873) by nearly 12 seconds. Villanova finished third with a time of 7:05.904. Northeastern’s time in the event was the fastest-ever at the CAA Championship by more than 10 seconds.

Following the championship, the CAA announced its 2026 all-conference team. UConn’s Jennifer Sanford was chosen. as the 2026 CAA Coach of the Year.
