WILMINGTON, N.C. (May 22, 2026) – Harrison Feinberg and Carmelo Musacchia delivered the big blows in a five-run eighth inning as second-seeded Northeastern rallied past #6 UNCW, 7-3, in Game 7 of the CAA Baseball Championship on Friday night at Brooks Field.
The Huskies (35-20) stayed alive in the tournament and will face either Campbell or Hofstra in another elimination game at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The Seahawks ended their season with a 30-28 record.
Down 3-2 entering the eighth, Feinberg opened the frame with his team-leading 16
th homer of the season to tie the game. The Huskies loaded the bases following a Matt Brinker double and a pair of walks, setting the stage for Musacchia, who singled up the middle against a drawn-in infield to put Northeastern up 5-3. The Huskies added two more runs in the inning on a wild pitch and an errant throw by the catcher.
The eighth-inning drama came after UNCW had created some excitement of its own in the sixth. With two out and the Seahawks trailing by one, Jake Bechtel launched a two-run homer over the outstretched glove of Feinberg in left to put his club up 3-2.
Northeastern jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second. After Charlie Criscola reached on a fielder’s choice, Musacchia drilled a ground-rule double to left-center to put a pair of runners in scoring position. Criscola came home on a Will Fosberg groundout and Musacchia plated the second run on a balk.
UNCW got on the board in the fourth. Brady Thompson lined a two-out RBI double to left-center, bringing Mason Hughes around from first base and trimming the deficit to 2-1.
Northeastern starting pitcher Luc Rising struck out a career-high 11 over the first 6.0 innings and relievers Andrew Rogovic (4-2) and Andrew Wertz provided three scoreless frames.
UNCW also got a strong start from right-hander Connor Marshburn, who surrendered just two runs over 6.0 innings and fanned eight.
