WILMINGTON, N.C. (May 24, 2026) – Junior Ryan Gerety delivered a game-winning RBI single to right in the bottom of the ninth to lift second-seeded Northeastern to a 3-2 walk-off victory over #1 Campbell in the CAA Baseball Championship game on Sunday afternoon at Brooks Field.
It’s the second straight CAA title and third in the past six years for the Huskies (38-20), who earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Baseball Championship. Campbell, which captured the South Division regular-season title, closed its season with a 41-17 record.
With the score tied at 2-2, Tyler Harmony opened the bottom of the ninth by legging out a double on a bouncer down the third base line. After a Harrison Feinberg infield single, Gerety laced a base hit to right, easily scoring Harmony with the winning run.
Closer Andrew Wertz (2-2) earned the victory for Northeastern after striking out three of the four batters he faced, including one to escape a bases-loaded jam after entering the game in the top of the eighth. He was selected as the tournament's Most Outstanding Player after contributing a win and two saves while appearing in the Huskies’ final four games of the tournament.
Campbell broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth as Mike Murphy opened the frame with his fourth homer of the season to right. The Camels added a second run as Lukas Schramm was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on Jonah Oster’s base hit to right.
Northeastern cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the fifth. The Huskies loaded the bases with nobody out and Will Fosberg was able to score on a Feinberg grounder to short.
The Huskies tied it up in the sixth. After loading the bases once again, Harmony lined a single to left that plated Charlie Criscola to knot the contest at 2-2.
Harmony reached base four times in the game, finishing 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI. He was one of seven different Huskies to record a hit. For Campbell, Trent Rumley and Oster contributed two hits apiece.
