North Carolina A&T Makes A Statement On Day 1 Of NCAA Track & Field Championship

EUGENE, Ore. (June 11, 2026) – The opening night of the NCAA Track & Field Championship featured an outstanding performance from the North Carolina A&T men’s team as three individuals and a pair of relay teams advanced to the finals.
In the 110-meter hurdles,
Jason Holmes won his heat and set program and CAA records with a time of 13.17 seconds. Holmes, who holds four of the top five performances in the event in Aggies’ history, will compete in the finals on Friday night at 8:42 p.m. EST.
The success continued in the 400-meter hurdles where twins
Isaiah Taylor and
Xzaviah Taylor both finished second in their respective heats to reach the finals. Isaiah clocked a time of 49.0 seconds and Xzaviah followed with a time of 49.28. They will battle in the finals at 9:27 p.m. EST on Friday night.
A&T opened the historic night by setting a new CAA record in the 4X100 relay. The team of Holmes,
Lassale Hewlett,
Jalen Booth-Hamilton and
Nakhi Benjamin crossed the line in a time of 38.53 to place sixth overall. They will race in the finals at 8:02 p.m. EST on Friday night.
The Aggies capped Day 1 at the NCAA Championship by placing second in their heat in the 4X400 relay. The foursome of Isaiah Taylor, Xzaviah Taylor,
Elijah Thomas and
Dyimond Walker posted a time of 3:02.19 to advance to the finals at 10:21 ET on Friday.
