UNCW's Williford Honored As Baseball America Freshman All-America 6/25/2026 11:00:00 AM Tom Riordan WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW freshman Trey Williford was named Second-Team Freshman All-America by Baseball America on Thursday. Williford crafted a 7-2 record as a rookie and earned Freshman of the Year honors in the Coastal Athletic Association. He compiled a 3.34 earned run average over the course of 17 appearances totaling 67.1 innings. Williford struck out a freshman program record 89 batters, aided by consecutive starts of a career-high 11 strikeouts against Charleston and North Carolina A&T. His 89 strikeouts ranked third nationally among freshmen, and he was second in strikeouts per nine innings at a 11.9 clip. Opponents hit a meager .215 against him. Currently, Williford is pitching with Harwich of the Cape Cod League and has made a pair of starts.
