Four Programs Represented in Women’s CAA Outdoor Track and Field Major Awards

RICHMOND, Va. (July 2, 2026) – Four programs garnered 2026 women’s CAA Outdoor Track and Field major awards, as Elon, Hampton, North Carolina A&T, and William & Mary had members of their programs recognized by the conference’s head coaches.
N.C. A&T senior
Spirit Morgan was named Field Athlete of the Year, Hampton senior
Brianna Charlesgarnered Track Athlete of the Year honors, William & Mary freshman
Amelia Bawcombe earned Rookie of the Year, and Elon’s
Mark Elliston was named Coach of the Year.
Morgan went back-to-back as Field Athlete of the Year after being named a second-team All-American in her signature event. The 2025-26 CAA Indoor Co-Field Athlete of the Year finished 13th in the nation in the high jump (1.79m), after earning her spot in nationals with a personal-best 1.86m leap at the LSU Alumni Gold meet. Morgan owns six of the seven best high jumps in Aggie history.
Charles retained her title through the outdoor season after being named the 2025-26 CAA Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. The senior sprinter participated in eight meets, including a 200m appearance at the NCAA Division I East First Rounds. Charles won gold in the 100m at the CAA Championship with a 11.54 pace. She also notched a personal-best 23.10 time in the 200m at the same event.
Bawcombe claimed the CAA hammer throw title this past spring, with a personal best 62.26m toss. After finishing 16th at the East Region First Round, the Tribe’s record holder competed at the USATF U20 Championship and finished fifth (59.82m). Bawcombe’s personal-best 45.17m in the discus also ranks fifth all time in Tribe history.
Elliston guided his program to a second-consecutive CAA Outdoor Track & Field title, including four event wins. The back-to-back recipient scored 193 points in the championship meet, helping lead to a program-record seven qualifiers for the NCAA East First Round.
