RICHMOND, Va. (July 11, 2026) – Hofstra pitcher Carlos Martinez and UNCW third baseman Trevor Lucas were selected in the fourth round of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft on Saturday evening.

Martinez was taken with the 118th overall pick by the San Francisco Giants and Lucas came off the board minutes later with the 129th pick by the Seattle Mariners.

After missing last season due to an injury, Martinez returned to the mound and earned a spot on the All-CAA first team. The right-hander was 6-3 with a 3.30 ERA and struck out 96 in 76.1 innings. He was also named to the CAA All-Tournament team after throwing 6.0 scoreless innings in a win over Charleston.

Lucas claimed a spot on the All-CAA first team in 2026 after batting .312 with 12 doubles, 12 homers and a team-high 56 RBI’s. He added nine stolen bases and only committed eight errors defensively in 136 chances. Lucas tallied 20 multi-hit games and scored multiple runs in 11 contests.

Martinez is the highest Hofstra draft pick since pitcher John Rooney was chosen in the third round in 2018. Lucas is the highest UNCW draft pick since infielder Greg Jones was selected in the first round in 2019.

More CAA players are expected to be chosen when the MLB Draft resumes at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday with rounds 5 through 20. Fans can follow the draft on MLB.com, MLB.TV and MLB+.
