Lenert Earns Spot on TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week
RICHMOND, Va. -- After earning CAA Offensive Player of the Week honors, Charleston senior Matt Lenert has been selected to TopDrawerSoccer.com's National Team of the Week, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
Lenert contributed to all four goals for Charleston during a 1-0-1 opening week. The Cougars' forward scored the team's lone goal in a 1-1 draw versus Davidson before logging a five-point effort against FGCU. Lenert registered two goals and an assist in a 3-2 victory over the Eagles, including the game-winning strike in the 86th minute.
Lenert entered the season on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List and as a member of the Preseason CAA Team. Through Charleston's first two matches, Lenert leads the team with seven points and is shooting .500 on the season.
The two-goal performance against FGCU marked the second brace of Lenert's career, while the 86th-minute game-winner was the fourth of his career.
Lenert's CAA Offensive Player of the Week honor marked the first conference weekly award of his career.
