UNCW’s Alex Kron Named to TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week
Richmond, Va. -- After earning his first CAA Defensive Player of the Week honor, UNCW goalkeeper Alex Kron has been selected to TopDrawerSoccer.com's National Team of the Week, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
Kron recorded a career-high eight saves over 90 minutes of work to help the Seahawks earn a 0-0 draw against Furman, which was ranked No. 10 on TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Top 25 poll last week. The redshirt junior also secured his second shutout of the season and kept UNCW unbeaten at 2-0-1.
The Northern Kentucky transfer has been a key piece of UNCW's defensive success early in the 2026 season. Kron has recorded 10 saves through the Seahawks' first three matches, while UNCW has yet to give up a goal this season.
Kron's career performance guided the Seahawks to their third consecutive shutout, marking the first time since 2018 the program has registered three straight clean sheets to open a campaign.
