Stony Brook’s Sprewell, Charleston’s Ward Earns Recognition on TopDrawerSoccer’s Women’s Soccer National Team of the Week
Dylan Smith
RICHMOND, Va. – Stony Brook defender
Eva Sprewell garnered a spot on TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Women’s Soccer National Team of the Week, while Charleston defender
Sienna Ward secured an Honorable Mention, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
Sprewell was vital to the Seawolves’ success last week, playing a full 90 minutes in the team’s 2-0 shutout of Penn. Not only was she crucial in holding the Quakers to just three shots on goal, the junior also crossed a set piece into the box and found the head of Allison George, who knocked in the eventual game-winner in the 72
nd minute. The Seawolves (3-0-1) are off to their best start since joining the CAA in 2022.
Ward helped Charleston go 1-0-1 last week with a 1-1 draw against North Florida and a 3-0 victory over UMass Lowell. The sophomore registered her first collegiate goal with a right-footed laser into the bottom left corner off a missed clear attempt, making it 2-0 in the 53
rd minute against the River Hawks. The team’s triumph over UMass Lowell also logged the 250
th win in program history.
