THREE CAA MEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS EARN ALL-AMERICA ACCOLADES
Old Dominion senior forward Edson Elcock, Hofstra senior forward Michael Todd and Towson senior forward Sebastian Haensel have been recognized as men’s soccer All-Americans by the NSCAA.
Elcock was named to the All-America first team by both the NSCAA and Soccer America, while Todd made the NSCAA All-America second team and Haensel was named to the third team.
Elcock led ODU with 11 goals, six assists for 28 total points. He earned first team All-CAA accolades as well as first team NSCAA All- South Atlantic Region honors. Elcock had two game-winning goals as he helped lead the Monarchs to a 14-6-2 record and the third round of the NCAA College Cup. He becomes ODU's fourth first-team soccer All-American. Trevor McEachron earned that honor from the NSCAA in 2003 and Tim Borer received it in 1985, while Kevon Harris was a College Soccer News first team selection in 2004.
Todd is the first Division I All-American in Hofstra men’s soccer history. He tallied a league-high 13 goals and five assists this season to earn CAA Player of the Year honors and was also named the Most Outstanding Player at the CAA Men’s Soccer Championship after leading the Pride to their third straight title. A three-time All-CAA and three-time NSCAA All-Region selection, Todd finished his career as one of only two players in Hofstra history to record 100 career points. He finished third on the all-time goals scored list with 40 and added 21 assists for 101 points. Hofstra advanced to the second round of the NCAA Men’s College Cup this season.
A two-time All-CAA first team pick, Haensel is only the fourth Tiger to be named as a Division I All-American. A first team All-South Atlantic regional selection, Haensel led the Tigers in scoring with seven goals and eight assists as a senior. Six of his goals were game-winners. A three-year starter who scored 11 goals as a junior, Haensel finished his career with 23 goals and 18 assists, tied for tenth on Towson’s career scoring list with 64 points. Haensel was a key performer for the most successful soccer team in school history. One of five seniors on the roster, he led the Tigers to a 15-2-3 overall record and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA College Cup. After earning a first round bye, the Tigers shut out Fairfield by a 2-0 margin as they advanced to the third round of the tournament.
