TRIBE'S FITZGERALD, ANDERSON SWEEP WEEKLY HONORS
William & Mary’s Ian Fitzgerald and Emily Anderson
have been named CAA Runners of the Week for men and women, respectively.
Fitzgerald
posted an impressive 14th place finish at the NCAA Pre-National
Invitational. The senior completed the eight kilometer course in 23:39.2, only
11 seconds away from a top-five finish.
Anderson
was the top finisher for the Tribe women, posting a 66th place
finish, crossing the tape in 21:23.5. The time was Anderson’s fastest on a six
kilometer course this season.
In men’s
cross country action, William & Mary placed 11th at the
Pre-National race in Terre Haute, Ind. Hofstra’s men’s team finished fourth out
of 23 teams at the Albany Invitational. The Pride placed six runners within 15
seconds of each other. Northeastern finished 11th at the Albany
Invitational. The Delaware men finished first at the Delaware Invitational #2.
The win was Delaware’s third this year. Kyle Schmid paced the Blue Hens with a
third place finish.
In
women’s cross country, William & Mary finished 24th at the
Pre-National Invitational. Towson won the Delaware Invitational for their
fourth team title in five meets this season. Michelle Donadio led the Tigers,
one of only three runners to finish the course in under 19:00. Northeastern
finished seventh at the Albany Invitational. The Huskies were led by Anni
Scully, who crossed the tape in 18:25, good for 23rd place. Hofstra
finished eighth at the Albany Invitational. Abby Pullen led the Pride,
completing the 5K course in 18:21, tying her career best. Georgia State
competed in the Chili Pepper Festival in Arkansas. The Panthers competed
against five other South Region teams. Rachel Hannah led the Panthers to a 12th
place finish with her 12th place finish. Delaware placed second in
the women’s Delaware Invitational. Sophomore Christina Antonopoulos led the
Blue Hens wither her second place finish. VCU’s Danielle Williams has bettered
her time every race this season. The senior posted a 22:28.2 on the six
kilometer course at the Tribe open, which was faster than her time on the five
kilometer course a week earlier. The Rams placed fourth in the event.
William
& Mary men’s team is ranked 28th nationally. The Tribe men are
ranked fourth in the Southeast Region, while George Mason is ranked 14th.
On
the women’s side, William & Mary ranks 10th in the Southeast
Region, while Georgia State is 10th in the South Region. Towson is ranked 15th in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Georgia
State will participate in the Troy Invitational in Troy, Alabama on Saturday,
October 20. The other teams are off until the CAA Championships on October 26.
