RICHMOND, Va. (November 24, 2009) - Three field hockey players from the Colonial Athletic Association were named to the 2009 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-America teams on Monday.

Drexel junior forward Christina Mastropaolo was selected to the All-America second team, while senior teammate Carolina Gibernau and Hofstra sophomore Genna Kovar were honored on the third team.

Mastropaolo, the 2009 CAA Player of the Year, led the league with 69 points and 29 goals. She ranked third in the NCAA in points per match and goals per match. The Harleysville, Pa., native also led the nation with 10 game-winning tallies.

Gibernau topped the CAA with 15 assists and was tied for seventh with 27 points. She was tied for 20th in Division I in assists per match (.65). The senior is the only Drexel player to ever be named first team all-conference, first team All-Region and first team all-tournament on three occasions.

Kovar ranked fourth in the CAA with 15 goals and 35 points as she led the Pride to a berth in the CAA field hockey championship for the fourth-consecutive season. She is just the fourth player in Hofstra history to be named an All-American, joining Edith Gallagher (1989), Doni-Melissa Jantzen (2004, 05) and Charlia Warner (2006).
