RICHMOND, Va. (August 18, 2009) – The Colonial Athletic Association has announced its Silver Anniversary team for men’s cross country, which includes 14 former CAA cross country Athletes of the Year and 10 All-America honorees.

As part of its 25th Anniversary celebration in 2009-10, the CAA is recognizing Silver Anniversary teams in 21 championship sports.  The teams are selected by a panel of current and former head coaches in the conference.

William & Mary has been the conference’s dominant program, capturing 16 of the 24 CAA men’s cross country championships, including the last nine in a row. The Tribe has advanced to the NCAA Men’s Cross Country Championship for the past 12 years and is one of only five schools nationally to participate in every championship since 1997. W&M placed eighth at the NCAA meet in 2006. Former league member Navy won the first five CAA titles (1985-89), while James Madison claimed three conference championships (1991, 1998 and 1999) and placed second 13 times.
