CAA HAS 23 WRESTLERS SELECTED TO COMPETE AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP

The CAA had 24 wrestlers selected to compete at the 2010 NCAA Wrestling Championships, which will be held March 18-20 at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb. CAA champion Binghamton and Rider will each have six wrestlers in the field, while Hofstra and Old Dominion will have three. Drexel and George Mason have a pair of representatives and Boston University has one.

Five CAA wrestlers were seeded when the brackets were announced. Old Dominion junior James Nicholson (30-1) is seeded #7 at 125 pounds, Drexel senior Steve Mytych (33-6) is seeded #12 at 133 pounds, returning All-American Josh Patterson of Binghamton (26-6) is seeded #11 and George Mason sophomore Bagna Tovuujav (30-8) is seeded #12 at 174 pounds and Old Dominion senior Jesse Strawn (29-5) is seeded #10 at 197 pounds.

Joining Patterson in the championship from Binghamton are junior Anwar Goeres (35-8) at 141, freshman Donald Vinson (32-11) at 149, sophomore Justin Lister (28-8) at 157, sophomore Matt Kaylor (34-18) at 165 and freshman Nathan Schiedel (30-7) at 184 pounds.

Making the field from Rider are sophomore Jimmy Kirchner (21-11) at 133, senior Michael Kessler (25-10) at 149, junior Rob Morrison (26-13) at 165, freshman Jim Resnick (19-15) at 174, sophomore Tyler Smith (23-14) at 197 and senior Eddie Bordas (32-7) at 285.

Participating from Hofstra are senior Jonny Bonilla-Bowman (19-5) at 157, sophomore Paul Gillespie (29-12) at 165 and sophomore Ben Clymer (24-8) at 184. Joining Nicholson and Strawn from ODU is senior Chris Brown (29-3) at 165.

Joining Mytych from Drexel is freshman Joseph Booth (21-7) at 157, while joining Tovuujav from Mason is junior Brandon Bucher (17-16) at 149. Rounding out the CAA field is Boston University freshman Fred Santaite (17-9) at 125.
