RICHMOND, Va. (August 31, 2010) – Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner Tom Yeager has announced the promotion of three staff members in recognition of their outstanding service to the conference.

Scott Meyer was named Assistant Commissioner for CAA Football, Niki DeSantis was named Assistant Commissioner for Creative Services/Communications and Kelly Bowmaster was named Assistant Commissioner for Creative Services/Video.

“I am pleased to be able to promote Scott, Niki and Kelly in recognition of the outstanding work they perform in their areas,” Yeager said. “Each brings unique and valuable talents to their jobs.”

Meyer has served as CAA Football’s Director of Communications since 2007 and is responsible for all aspects of football media relations, including the writing of weekly releases, generating statistics, updating the website and producing the conference’s media and fan guides. He has also expanded the conference’s social media presence through the use of Twitter, YouTube and the recently created CAA Football Blog. Along with his communications responsibilities, Meyer is also involved in the preparation of conference playing schedules and other CAA Football administrative duties.

A 2003 graduate of the University of Kansas, Meyer worked for five years in the KU media relations office where he was the main contact for the Jayhawks’ soccer and baseball teams. In 2004, he was named Assistant Director of Athletic Public Relations at the University of Richmond, where he served as the primary contact for the Spiders’ football team and was also involved in the re-design of the school’s athletics web site.

DeSantis has worked in the CAA communications department since 2005 and was promoted to Director of Communications in 2008. She serves as the CAA’s primary media contact for women’s basketball, golf and softball, which includes the writing of weekly releases and generating statistics. DeSantis is heavily involved with the maintenance of the conference’s website and is overseeing the league’s social media initiatives. She also does extensive graphics design work for all departments, including the production of media guides, programs, banners, signs and T-shirts.

DeSantis is a 2001 graduate of Juniata College, where she worked in the athletics communications office for four years. She was an Athletic Communications Assistant at Bucknell University in 2002-03 and spent two years at Virginia Commonwealth University (2003-05) as an Athletic Communications Assistant.

Bowmaster has worked in the CAA’s video services department since 2006 and was promoted to Director of Video Services in 2008. A 2004 graduate of James Madison University, Bowmaster produces football and basketball highlight packages for broadcast and the web and produces video highlight recaps from CAA championships. He also is responsible for creating CAA commercials and public service announcements.

For the past three years, Bowmaster has been the executive producer of the CAA Basketball Preview Show, a half-hour television show which airs on dozens of stations along the East Coast. He was also the producer of a commemorative special chronicling the first 25 years of the CAA as part of the league’s Silver Anniversary celebration.
