CAA
4-1-1:
• The
11 league members have posted a 42-39 record early in the season against
non-conference foes.
• The
first RPIRatings.com report for the 2012-13 season came out on Dec. 10 and the
CAA was ranked 14th among the 33 conferences.
• Georgia
State leads the nation in three-point field goal defense holding their
opponents to 16 percent shooting from long range.
• The
College of Charleston has accepted an invitation of membership to join the CAA
beginning July 2013.
• Old
Dominion (6-1) and Georgia State (5-1) sit atop the CAA women's basketball
standings with just one loss apiece.
• The
CAA Women's Basketball Championship will return to the Show Place Arena in
Upper Marlboro, Maryland in 2013 for the third straight season.
• Delaware
fell out of the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Top 25 Polls on Nov. 19,
but continued to receive votes in the AP Poll. The Blue Hens (5-2) have played
the six of the last seven games without national all-star Elena Delle Donne.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK:

Carra received CAA Women's Basketball
Player of the Week honors after leading the Blue Hens to a pair of victories
last week and knocked down a running jumper off the glass with two seconds
remaining in regulation to secure a 59-58 comeback win over Princeton. The
senior finished the week averaging 15.5 points per game to go along with 5.0
rebounds per outing. She added eight assists, two steals and one block on the
week to help Delaware improve to 5-2 on the season. The senior, who currently
sits at 23rd on the UD all-time scorers, needs just six points to break the
1,000 career-point mark.
Emily Correal • William & Mary
Venetia, Pa./Peters Township, Sr., Forward
Correal earned CAA Women's Basketball
Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading the Tribe with
24.5 points per game last week to go along with 5.5 rebounds per outing. The
senior forward poured in a career-high 28 points against Radford and became the
Tribe's 17th player in school history to score 1,000 career points in the same
outing. Correal shot 57.6 percent (19-for-33) from the floor, including 1-for-1
from beyond the arc, and went 10-for-13 (.769) from the free throw line. She
finished the week with five assists, six steals and one block.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
LaQuanda Younger • Old Dominion
Newport News, Va./Warwick, Fr., Guard
Younger was named CAA Women's Basketball Rookie of the
Week after helping the Lady Monarchs earn a 59-33 victory at home against N.C.
Central last week. The freshman guard registered a career-high eight points in
a season-high 19 minutes off the bench for ODU. She hit a pair of
three-pointers, collected a rebound and recorded the first two blocks of her
young career in the win.
