CAA Swimming and Diving Honors ? Jan. 29
RICHMOND, Va. (Jan. 29, 2013) - Old
Dominion's Sidni Hoxha and Towson's Alex Cohen have been tabbed as this week's
CAA Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week. Northeastern's Anna Schegoleva and Old
Dominion's Kimberly Rashleigh collected Co-Women's Swimmer of the Week honors,
while Towson's Lyndsey Dickson was selected as Women's Diver of the Week.
Hoxha continued his impressive junior
campaign with three individual victories in the Monarchs' 153-141 victory over
William & Mary last weekend. He posted times of 46.22 and 1:42.36 to earn
first place in the 100 and 200 free, while setting a new pool record in the 50
free with a time of 20.49. Hoxha also anchored the winning 400 freestyle relay
team with teammates Andrew Crockett, Ben Hansen, and Victor Sa.
Cohen collects his fifth men's diver of the
week award after collecting two top ten
finishes in the Tigers' meet against Harvard and Notre Dame last weekend. Cohen
tallied 261.10 points on the one-meter board, and 230.35 points on the
three-meter board, finishing ninth in both events.
Schegoleva earns her first CAA women's
swimmer of the week honor this season after collecting three individual victories
at the Dartmouth Invitational last weekend. Schegoleva swept both backstroke
events, posting a time of 57.12 in the 100, and 2:03.31 in the 200. She also
picked up a victory in the 200 IM (2:06.53), while swimming the first leg on
the 200 and 400 medley relay teams and finishing second in both events. All
three of Schegoleva's individual victories were pool records at the Upper
Valley Aquatic Center in River Junction, Vt.
Rashleigh picks up her second CAA women's
swimmer of the week award after tallying three victories in the Lady Monarchs'
narrow 144-140 loss to William & Mary. She collected victories in the 100
(57.11) and 200 (2:01.85) back, while winning the 200 IM with a time of 2:07 to
set a new pool record. Rashleigh also anchored the second-place 400 freestyle
relay team with teammates Savannah Bowers, Ashley Luchsinger, and Morgan
Johnson.
Dickson posted two top-five finishes on the
one and three-meter boards in the Tigers' dual meet against Notre Dame last
weekend. She finished third in the three-meter dive with score of 301.90 points,
and placed fourth in the one-meter dive with 251.10 points. This is Dickson's
fourth women's diver award this season.
