Salmon collects the first CAA women's lacrosse Player of the Week
honor of the season after tallying nine points on seven goals and two assists
in two games last week. Salmon helped the Tribe to a season-opening 17-13 win
over American last Wednesday by scoring four goals and picking up an assist.
She followed that up with three more goals and an assist in a 15-8 loss at No.
7 Duke on Sunday. Salmon also added four ground balls, two draw controls, and
two caused turnovers, while posting a .500 shooting percentage (7-14) in both
of last week's contests.

LACROSSE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:

Considine • Hofstra
Rockville
Centre, N.Y./South Side, R-Fr., Attacker
Considine starred in her collegiate debut as she led Hofstra with four
goals on five shots, helping the Pride to a 13-12 victory over New Hampshire in
their season opener last Saturday. Considine got the start in her first game
and scored all four of her goals in the second half to help Hofstra rally from
a 7-4 halftime deficit.

Towson entered the season ranked No. 17 in the IWLCA
preseason coaches poll.
Delaware's Caitlin McCartney scored a career-high five goals
in the Blue Hens' 16-12 loss to No. 17 Georgetown. The sophomore midfielder has
recorded seven hat tricks and 13 multiple-goal games in just 16 career outings.
Seven different players scored for Old Dominion at #19 Johns
Hopkins, led by sophomore Ashmore Standing's three goals and freshman Nicole
Bellini's pair of goals.
Graduate student attacker Jackie LaMonica led No. 17 Towson
with 2 goals and one assist in the Tigers' narrow 9-6 defeat at No. 5 North
Carolina. LaMonica's goals were the first since the 2011 season as she began
her comeback from a knee injury.
William & Mary senior attacker Krystin Mackrides posted
hat tricks in both of the Tribe's first two games this season.
Opening week success: Three CAA squads began the 2013
with a victory in the opening week of play. William & Mary knocked off
American 17-13 last Wednesday night to open the 2013 season. It was the Tribe's
ninth home-opening win in the last 10 seasons. Drexel defeated George
Washington 10-3 last Saturday for its sixth straight season-opening victory.
Hofstra also won its sixth season-opener in the last seven seasons as it defeated
New Hampshire 13-12 on Saturday.
Towson tabbed as preseason CAA favorite: Defending
champion Towson was predicted to finish atop the CAA women's lacrosse standings
again in 2013 according to a vote by the league's head coaches. The Tigers
received seven first-place votes for a total of 49 points to top the preseason
poll. James Madison was selected second with 41 points, while Drexel received
one first place vote and 35 points to earn the third spot. Delaware was picked
to finish fourth with 28 points followed by Hofstra, William & Mary, Old
Dominion and George Mason.
