CAA FOOTBALL ALL-CONFERENCE AWARDS

RICHMOND, Va. – CAA Football announced its award winners from the 2014 regular season on Tuesday, a list headlined by Villanova quarterback John Robertson and William & Mary defensive lineman Mike Reilly, the league’s Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year.

CAA Football’s annual awards are voted on by the league’s head coaches. 2014 conference champion New Hampshire - the No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming FCS playoffs - leads the way with 13 total All-Conference selections, including five on the First Team.

Robertson earned CAA Football Offensive Player of the Year honors after leading the FCS in passing efficiency at 183.0 and ranking second in the nation with 34 passing touchdowns. He also finished second in the conference with 3,607 yards of total offense and fifth in rushing yards with 978.

Robertson becomes the sixth player in Villanova history to be named CAA Football’s Offensive Player of the Year.

Reilly was voted as the league’s Defensive Player of the Year after finishing tied for second in the conference – and 13th nationally - with 11 sacks and ranking eighth in tackles-for-loss with 12. He is the fourth Tribe player to receive the award.

CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Year honors went to William & Mary kicker John Carpenter, who tied for the league lead with 18 field goals. Carpenter hit a CAA-best 78.3-percent of his field-goal attempts this season, and finished a perfect 24-of-24 on PATs.

Carpenter becomes the sixth Tribe player – and fifth in the past six years – to take home the honor.

UAlbany wide receiver Josh Gontarek was selected as the CAA Football Offensive Rookie of the Year after finishing tied for second in the conference with eight receiving touchdowns. He also ranked seventh with 58 receptions and eighth with 687 receiving yards, and is the first CAA Football individual award winner in Great Danes history.

Earning Defensive Rookie of the Year accolades was Delaware lineman Blaine Woodson, who ranked seventh in the conference with 8.5 sacks and tied for ninth in tackles-for-loss with 11. Delaware players have now won five CAA Football Rookie of the Year awards.

New Hampshire’s Sean McDonnell was voted as the CAA Football Coach of the Year for the second time in his career after guiding UNH to a 10-1 overall record and a perfect 8-0 league mark. The Wildcats have now reached the postseason 11-straight years – the longest active streak in the nation.

Finally, UAlbany receiver Jake Meek was named the recipient of the CAA Football Chuck Boone Leadership Award, which recognizes the player who best embodies the highest standards of leadership, integrity, teamwork and sportsmanship in academics and athletics. Meek carries a 3.72 GPA studying accounting.
