WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 19, 2015)
– Top-seeded William & Mary captured its 23rd Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Tennis Championship on Sunday, defeating second-seeded College of Charleston, 4-0, at the Millie West Tennis Facility on the campus of William & Mary.
 
The Tribe (16-6), which won their second league crown in the past three seasons and the team’s fourth straight match overall, earned the conference’s automatic berth to the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship. CofC, which was competing in the championship final match for the second straight season, finished the year with a 14-13 record.

The deciding singles match featured steady senior Jeltje Loomans, who improved to a perfect 8-0 in her career at the CAA Championships. The Tribe senior won four straight games to claim the first set, 6-2, from Charleston’s Brooke McAmis.The CofC junior was up a break at 4-3 in the second set, before Loomans ripped off four of the final five games to clinch the title. The win was her fourth straight as she improved to 23-7 overall and 15-5 at No. 2 this season.

In doubles action, the Tribe kick started the impressive day with a victory via the pair of Julia Casselbury and Melanie Roy. The two defeated CofC's duo of Sarah Jane Jones and Grace Baker, 8-3. On court No. 1, the Tribe pair of Leeza Nemchinov, the 2015 CAA Player of the Year, and Jeltje Loomans outlasted the Cougars' top duo, which featured senior Jenny Falcone and junior Katherine Schofield, by a score of 8-5. 
 
The Green and Gold defeated fifth-seeded James Madison, 4-0, on Saturday while the Cougars earned a spot in the title contest with a 4-1 win over No. 3 Elon.
 
This year’s postseason berth will be W&M’s 20th overall trip to the NCAA Tournament. The selection show takes place on Tuesday, April 28 at 5:00 p.m. via NCAA.com.
