#4 TOWSON 7, #1 HOFSTRA 3 | BOXSCORE | HIGHLIGHTS

Redshirt senior Andi Raymond scored three goals, including two of her team’s four scores in overtime, as fourth-seeded Towson outlasted top-seeded Hofstra, 7-3, on Friday in the first semifinal of the 2015 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women’s Lacrosse Championship at Delaware Stadium.

The three-time defending CAA Champion Tigers didn’t find the scoreboard in regulation until the 15:27 mark, but continued to battle and eventually forced OT with the score knotted at 3-3. Freshman Jenna Kerr added two goals, while Raymond chipped in two assists in the win.

After the first three minutes of overtime wrapped up without a goal, TU’s Paige Duncan gave the Tigers some breathing room with a clutch goal, which was the lone tally of the game for the senior. Raymond then added two unassisted scores and sophomore Samantha Brookhart provided the final score, also unassisted.

Hofstra, which fell to 11-6 on the season, won the CAA Regular Season Championship after going 6-0 in conference play for the first time since 2001. Senior Brittain Altomare, who was named CAA Player of the Year on Thursday evening, had a hand in all of the Pride’s three goals with three helpers, while sophomore Tiana Parrella scored twice and junior Lindsey Alfano had the other goal.

Altomare found a streaking Parrella to open up the scoring just over 10 minutes into the contest. The 2015 Player of the Year helped the Pride again nearly two minutes later when she set up teammate Alfano for the game’s second goal and HU took a 2-0 lead.

The Tigers finally broke through late in the second half. Kerr found the back of the net off of a great pass from freshman Kaitlyn Montalbano, and the score stood at 2-1. Less than one minute later, Kerr struck again to tie the contest.

#2 JAMES MADISON 10, #3 DELAWARE 7 | BOXSCORE | HIGHLIGHTS

Junior Jaci Gordon scored three goals to go along with one assist to help second-seeded James Madison beat third-seeded Delaware, 10-7, on Friday night in the second semifinal contest of the 2015 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women’s Lacrosse Championship at Delaware Stadium.

No. 17/19 James Madison won its sixth straight game and improved to 14-4 on the season. Junior Taylor Gress and sophomore Leah Monticello each score twice to pace the Dukes. Madison has now scored at least 10 goals in 15 of the team’s 18 games this season.

Seniors Stephanie Finley Ali Curwin each added one goal apiece and redshirt sophomore Betsy Angel also provided one tally in the win.

JMU has appeared in four of the past five CAA Championship tournaments, last winning the trophy in in back-to-back fashion from 2010-11. The Dukes also have appeared in the title game against Towson in 2012 and 2014, with the most-recent defeat occurring in overtime last year by a score of 12-11.

Delaware, which made its second straight appearance in the CAA Championship field after missing the field from 2010-13, concludes the season with an 11-7 record. Junior Shannon Hawley led the Blue Hens with two goals and Senior Caitlin McCartney scored once in the setback.

JMU led at the break by a goal, 5-4, despite being outshot, 9-6.

UD scored two straight goals to start the second half and take its first lead of the game at 6-5. The two teams then exchanged goals and the host Blue Hens led 7-6 with 24:08 to go in the game. Angel, however, gave Madison a two-goal lead on a feed from Gress with 14:38 to play, with Gress getting the final goal with more than 11 minutes to play.
