STATS FCS PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA TEAM
PHILADELPHIA – A total of 14 CAA Football players have been named to the STATS FCS Preseason All-America Team, led by five first-team selections, it was announced on Thursday.
CAA Football’s 14 spots on the STATS – formerly The Sports Network – Preseason All-America Team are the third-most of any conference. In addition to the five first-team picks, CAA Football is represented by six second-team and three third-team selections.
Villanova quarterback John Robertson and Richmond fullback Seth Fisher represent the league on the first-team offense.
The first-team defense, meanwhile, includes Villanova linebacker Don Cherry, William & Mary linebacker Luke Rhodes, and New Hampshire cornerback Casey DeAndrade.
James Madison quarterback Vad Lee, Towson running back Darius Victor and Maine lineman Bruce Johnson earned spots on the second-team offense, while Stony Brook lineman Victor Ochi, Maine linebacker Christophe Mulumba Tshimanga and William & Mary corner DeAndre Houston-Carson landed on the second-team defense.
Rounding out CAA Football’s selections are William & Mary offensive lineman Andrew Jones, Maine defensive lineman Trevor Bates and New Hampshire linebacker Akil Anderson on the Third Team.
CAA Football had 12 players selected to The Sports Network All-America Team in 2014 – including Fisher, Robertson and Cherry - and has posted 371 TSN All-Americans in league history.
