CAA Football Offensive Player of the Week
Wes Hills, Jr., RB, Delaware (Wildwood, N.J./Wildwood)
Hills rushed for a career-high 242 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries in Delaware’s 28-21 setback to Maine. The junior recorded a game-tying 61-yard scoring run with 5:01 left to play and also had a 17-yard TD run. The 242 yards were the fourth-most in UD history and the most since 2007. It was also the 3rd-highest total by any FCS back this season. Hills became only the second player in school history with two 200+-yard rushing games in the same season.
CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week
Jaheem Woods, Sr., DB, Stony Brook (Neptune, N.J./Neptune)
Woods recorded a team-high 10 tackles and came up with two critical plays in the fourth quarter to help Stony Brook post a 27-20 victory at Towson. The senior defensive back picked off a pass with 6:13 remaining that set up the game-winning touchdown for the Seawolves, and made a critical stop on a Tigers’ 4
th-and-2 play at the 8-yard line. Woods also a forced fumble on a kickoff and had a half-tackle for loss.
CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Morgan Ellman, So., PK, New Hampshire (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood)
Ellman kicked a pair of fourth-quarter field goals to help New Hampshire edge Elon, 13-10, in rainy conditions. The sophomore booted a career-long 40-yard field goal with 10:07 remaining that tied the contest at 10-10 and then kicked the game-winning 35-yard field goal with 2:09 left.
CAA Football Rookie of the Week
Deontez Thompson, R-Fr., RB, Richmond (Indian Head, Md./Henry E. Lackey)
Thompson rushed for a career-high 112 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries in Richmond’s 36-30 triple-overtime victory at UAlbany. The freshman came off the bench after an injury to starter Xavier Goodall and contributed a pair of game-tying scores, including one in overtime. It was the first three TD effort by a Spiders’ freshman since 1991.
