CAA Offensive Player of the Week
Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks, So., RB, UAlbany (Newark, N.J./Don Bosco)
Ibitokun-Hanks rushed for a program-record 298 yards and three touchdowns on a career-best 39 carries as UAlbany rallied from a 22-0 deficit to post a 35-26 victory at No. 21/23 New Hampshire. The effort was the 3
rd-best in FCS this season and the 8
th-best in CAA history. All three of Ibitokun-Hanks’ touchdowns came in the second half, including a 13-yard run that sealed the victory with 3:19 remaining.
CAA Defensive Player of the Week
Cornell Urquhart, Jr., DL, James Madison (Richmond, Va./Benedictine)
Urquhart made five tackles, blocked a field goal and tipped a pass that resulted in a key fourth-quarter interception as No. 6/5 James Madison edged No. 9/11 Villanova, 20-7, to clinch the CAA title. His blocked field goal kept the contest tied at 7-7 in the third quarter and the interception came with under four minutes to go and set up a TD that helped put the game way. The Dukes limited VU to 239 total yards and forced four turnovers.
CAA Special Teams Player of the Week
Justin Rohrwasser, So., PK, Rhode Island (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central)
Rohrwasser set a program record for points by a kicker with 14 in Rhode Island’s 44-14 victory at Elon. The sophomore was a perfect 3-for-3 on field goals, including a career-long 42-yarder, and also made all five extra points. His three field goals helped the Rams build a 16-7 lead in the third quarter before pulling away late.
CAA Rookie of the Week
Shane Simpson, Fr., RB, Towson (Easton, Pa./Easton)
Simpson rushed for a career-high 202 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries in Towson’s 34-24 victory over William & Mary. The freshman had a big 70-yard scoring run early in the second half and averaged 9.6 yards per carry for the game. He also returned three kickoffs for 57 yards.
