RICHMOND, Va. (December 12, 2016) – Hofstra University’s Ashunae Durant and James Madison University’s Precious Hall were named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women’s Basketball Players of the Week while Elon University’s Ra’Shika White picked up CAA Rookie of the Week honors for the second consecutive week.

Junior forward Ashunae Durant posted double-doubles in both of Hofstra's wins this week, averaging 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds. She also averaged 4.5 assists and shot 50 percent from the field. In the victory over UMass, she picked up 10 points and 11 rebounds. In the overtime victory against American, Durant tied a career-high with 23 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and set a personal best with six assists. She was also 8-for-15 from the field and 7-for-7 from the free throw line against the Eagles. Durant has six double-doubles in seven games this season and has posted double-digit rebounds in every game this season.

Redshirt senior guard Precious Hall poured in a school-record 46 points to power James Madison to a thrilling 82-76 double overtime victory at Rutgers, the Dukes only game of the week. Hall finished the night shooting 15-for-29 from the floor and 10-for-13 from the free throw line, scoring 16 of her 46 points in extra time. Her point total helped her eclipse 1,700 points for her career. Hall is averaging 25.1 points per game this season, which ranks her third in the nation.

Elon rookie Ra’Shika White had another strong outing for the Phoenix against an ACC foe in the clash with No. 21/21 Duke. White was the lone Phoenix in double figures, notching a team and season-high 19 points. White went 7-for-14 from the floor to go along with seven boards in 28 minutes of action.
 

#CAAHoops – The Week that Was
 
Drexel and Elon have two of the top-12 toughest schedules in NCAA Division I this season. Drexel’s schedule  is the 11th toughest while Elon’s with the 12th toughest. The Dragons have faced two Big Ten teams, one ACC and one SEC opponent this season. Elon has faced three ACC opponents and a Big Ten opponent. 

Charleston (2-5): The Cougars were off for exams and return to action on December 16 at Louisville.
 
Delaware (6-4): The Blue Hens split games against a pair of Patriot League foes last week, pulling out a 47-45 win at Loyola Maryland before falling to Army, 61-47. Sade Chatman averaged 11.5 points and 7.5 rebounds last week while Nicole Enabosi chipped in with 10.0 rebounds and 9.5 points per game. Enabosi posted her fourth double-double of the year with 13 rebounds and 11 points against Army.
 
Drexel (4-2): The Dragons were off for exams and return to action on December 13, hosting Niagara.
 
Elon (4-4): In their lone game of the week, the Phoenix battled it out with No. 21/21 Duke, but was clipped, 68-61, at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Rookie Ra’Shika White turned in another solid performance for the Phoenix with a team and season-high 19 points.
 
Hofstra (6-3): The Pride went 2-0 on the week, topping UMass, 71-55, before edging American, 72-67, in overtime. Junior Ashunae Durant averaged a double-double (16.5ppg, 11.rpg) for the Pride. Rookie Ana Hernandez Gil had a breakout game against UMass, coming off the bench to score a season-high 18 points, all of which were three-pointers.
 
James Madison (5-3): Redshirt senior Precious Hall dropped in 46 points to lead the Dukes to an 82-76 double overtime win over Big Ten foe Rutgers. Two buzzer-beaters sent the game to double overtime, where JMU outscored Rutgers 11-5 to come away with the victory. Rookie guard Lexie Barrier scored a career-best 12 points while senior forward Da’Lishia Griffin had her third double-digit rebounding performance of the season with a game-high 11 boards and dished out a career-high five assists.
 
UNCW (3-4): The Seahawks’ only game of the week was a tough 87-54 loss at NC State. Redshirt senior guard Jasmine Steele came off the bench to lead UNCW with 10 points.
 
Northeastern (2-7): The Huskies fell at Maine, 68-47, in their lone game of the week. The Huskies received 18 points and nine boards from sophomore Gabby Giacone and 15 points from Claudia Ortiz.
 
Towson (6-4): The Tigers had three tough losses to No. 4/4 Maryland, Colgate and Rider last week. Sophomore guard SIanni Martin led the Tigers while averaging 19.0 points per game last week. Redshirt junior forward Jordyn Smith averaged a team-best 7.0 rebounds per game and posted her first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds at Colgate.
 
William & Mary (6-1): The Tribe was off last week for exams and resume play on December 15 when they travel to Norfolk State. William &  Mary has won six straight games entering the week.
