2016 NFHCA All-America Team Release
CHANDLER, Ariz. (December 7, 2016) – On Wednesday, Delaware sophomore
Greta Nauck, fellow Blue Hen
Esmée Peet and James Madison junior
Hannah Hall were each named Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I All-Americans.
For Nauck, the announcement comes less than one week after she was tabbed Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Year by the same organization. Of the three conference players honored, the sophomore was the only player to garner first team recognition. She completed the 2016 season ranking first in Division I with 1.32 goals per game and 3.04 points per game. Nauck also set new single-season program records with 33 goals and 76 points in all.
Peet, a senior, capped her career with three NFHCA All-American honors over her career. Much like Nauck, Peet played a large role in helping Delaware win the 2016 NCAA Field Hockey National Championship – its first-ever national title. The senior midfielder collected nine goals to go along with seven assists for 25 points over 25 games to earn second team recognition. Delaware is one of eight schools that had a pair of All-Americans.
James Madison had a player named to the NFHCA All-American team for the second straight season after two players were honored last year. Hall was named to the third team on Wednesday. The sophomore, who was picked by the league’s head coaches as an All-CAA first team member as well, owned 11 goals and nine assists this past season for 31 points in 20 games played.
The Longstreth/NFHCA Division National Player of the Year award will be announced on Dec. 14. The 2016 All-America Teams included 23 seniors or graduate students, 14 juniors, eight sophomores and three freshmen among the 48 total honorees.
