RICHMOND, Va. (March 7, 2016) – James Madison University junior Da’Lishia Griffin was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Elon University’s Nikki McDonald was named CAA Rookie of the Week.

James Madison junior Da’Lishia Griffin helped the Dukes to a 2-0 week by averaging 11.5 points per game on 60 percent shooting (9-of-15), including a 2-for-3 showing from beyond the arc. She also averaged 8.0 rebounds per game with 1.5 blocks per outing. She turned the ball over just two times and committed just four fouls over 41 total minutes. She came just one point shy of her career high in scoring at College of Charleston as she went 5-for-7 from the floor. She pulled down 10 rebounds at Delaware, her ninth double-digit rebounding performance of the season.

Nikki McDonald notched a new career-high 14 points in 18 minutes played in Elon's regular-season finale win at William & Mary last week. The rookie finished 7-of-8, another career high, to shoot 86 percent on the night, including a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc to match her third career high of the night. She also hauled down six rebounds in the game to help the Phoenix dominate on the boards, 42-19, and tallied one block.
