Hofstra Edged by Auburn 1-0 in NCAA Tournament

AUBURN, Ala. (November 10, 2017) -- All good things must come to an end. Hofstra's storied 2017 campaign came to a close in the first round of the NCAA Championship as the Pride fell to host Auburn, 1-0, on the road. The loss snapped Hofstra's 12-match winning streak and 14-match unbeaten streak as the Pride finishes the season at 15-4-2.
The Pride and the Tigers battled it out in the first half. Defense won out with both teams going scoreless.
Jenna Borresen made two saves for Hofstra.
In the second half, the lone goal of the game came with 26:12 remaining in the game as Bri Folds tucked one in for Auburn. The Tigers fought off the Pride the rest of the way for the win.
Auburn held a slight 14-12 advantage in shots. Pride senior and CAA Player of the Year
Kristin Desmon had four of those shots Sarah le Beau made five saves on the night for the Tigers while
Ashley Wilson had three second-half saves for the Pride.
Hofstra, the 2017 CAA champions, was making its sixth NCAA Championship appearance.
