Hofstra, NU Advance to Women's Soccer Championship Match

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (November 11, 2017) – Top-seeded Hofstra and third-seeded Northeastern have advanced to the 2017 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Soccer Championship title match. The Pride and the Huskies will square off on Sunday, November 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Hofstra Soccer Stadium with an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament on the line.

No. 2 Drexel 0, No. 3 Northeastern 2 | Box Score
For the fourth time in the last five years, Northeastern will be playing for a CAA crown as the defending champion Huskies topped second-seeded Drexel, 2-0, this evening in the CAA Championship semifinals.
Northeastern goalkeeper
Nathalie Nidetch continue her stellar play in goal for the No. 3 seed, making six saves on the night. She has not allowed a goal in the last four matches.
The field was tilted towards Northeastern (13-5-3) in much of the first half. The Huskies got on the board at 24:39 as
Lizzie George put home a cross by
Carly Wilhelm for the 1-0 lead. Just over five minutes later,
Hannah Rosenblatt, who subbed in for George, buried her eighth of the season and third of the CAA Championship for the 2-0 advantage.
The Dragons (11-7-1) came out strong in the second half with
Madison Dunn nearly heading one in in the 51st minute but Nidetch came away with the save. Drexel had another chance two minutes later on a
Shaelyn McCarty breakaway but she fired it just high. The Huskies were able to lock down the Dragons the rest of the way for the win.

Christiana Ogunsami made two saves on the night to wrap up her career as a Dragon.

Top-seeded Hofstra posted its 11th consecutive victory and extended its unbeaten streak to 13 matches with a 1-0 victory over fifth-seeded William & Mary (8-10-2) in the CAA Championship semifinals.
The Pride (14-3-2) controlled much of the play in the first half, out-shooting the Tribe, 8-2, but neither team could find the back of the net. The lone goal of the game came at 62:02. A
Madeline Anderson header off a corner resulted in a defensive save on the goal line by the Tribe, but
Lucy Porter was there to boot in the rebound to put Hofstra on top.
Hofstra out-shot William & Mary, 18-4, while corners were even at three saves apiece.
Jenna Borresen and
Ashley Wilson split time with Borresen making one save in the first half while Wilson made two saves for the Pride’s 11th clean sheet of the season.
