Tribe's Faure Tops All-CAA Women's Tennis Team

RICHMOND, Va. (May 2, 2017) – William & Mary senior
Marie Faure was selected as the 2017 Colonial Athletic Association women’s tennis Player of the Year by a vote of the league’s head coaches.
Also receiving top women’s tennis honors from the conference were Delaware freshman
Brooke Pilkington, who was named CAA Rookie of the Year, and Delaware’s
Laura Travis, who was chosen as the CAA Coach of the Year.
Faure recorded a team-leading 22 singles victories for William & Mary this season, including a 10-6 mark in dual matches at the No. 2 position. She provided the clinching point in the title match of the CAA Women’s Tennis Championship after rallying for a three-set win. Faure also excelled in doubles with partner Lauren Goodman, recording 14 victories and earning a national ranking as high as No. 71. She is the 14
th different W&M standout to be honored as the CAA women’s tennis Player of the Year.
Pilkington compiled 24 singles victories this season, which was tied for the second-most ever by a Delaware freshman and fourth-most for any Blue Hens’ player. She posted an impressive 13-4 mark at No. 1 singles in dual matches and also contributed 18 wins in doubles this season. Pilkington is the first Delaware player to ever be named CAA women’s tennis Rookie of the Year.
Travis guided Delaware a 12-7 overall record this season, including a 4-2 mark against conference foes. The Blue Hens captured 10 of their final 12 regular-season matches and posted their highest win total since 2013. The CAA Coach of the Year honor is the first for Travis.
