Six CAA Football Teams Among Top 20 In Latest FCS Polls

RICHMOND, Va. (November 12, 2018) – CAA Football has six of the top 20 teams in the nation according to the latest FCS Top 25 polls that were released on Monday.
James Madison (7-3, 5-2 CAA) moved up to No. 7 in the STATS poll and No. 8 in the AFCA poll after a 48-31 victory over Rhode Island last week. The Dukes finish the regular season with a tough road test at nationally ranked Towson on Saturday.
Stony Brook (7-3, 5-2 CAA) vaulted to No. 10 in both the STATS and AFCA polls following it 17-3 triumph over nationally ranked Delaware last Saturday. The Seawolves hit the road to play New York rival UAlbany this week.
Elon (6-3, 4-2 CAA) slipped to No. 12 in the AFCA poll and No. 14 in the STATS poll after dropping a 41-10 decision to Towson last week. The Phoenix face another big challenge on Saturday with a trip to nationally ranked Maine.
Towson (7-3, 5-2 CAA) rose to No. 15 in the STATS poll and No. 16 in the AFCA poll following its 41-10 road win over Elon. The Tigers return home for another big game this Saturday versus nationally ranked James Madison.
Maine (7-3, 6-1 CAA) climbed to No. 16 in the STATS poll and No. 19 in the AFCA poll after taking sole possession of first place in the CAA with a 28-9 victory at Richmond. The Black Bears entertain nationally ranked Elon this Saturday.
Delaware (7-3, 5-2 CAA) dropped to No. 17 in the STATS poll and No. 18 in the AFCA poll after a 17-3 setback at Stony Brook that ended its five-game winning streak. The Blue Hens host rival Villanova on Saturday afternoon.
Rhode Island (5-5, 3-4 CAA) was among other teams receiving votes in both polls.
CAA Football’s six ranked teams was followed by the Big Sky Conference with four ranked teams. Eleven different conferences had at least one team in the poll.
Nine of the CAA’s 12 teams have been ranked in the Top 25 at some point this season.
