CAA Announces 2017-18 Team Academic Excellence Awards

RICHMOND, Va. (July 19, 2018) – The CAA has announced the recipients of the Team Academic Excellence awards for the 2017-18 season.
The Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes the institution with the highest collective grade point average in all 22 sports sponsored by the CAA. The team GPA is a calculation of the grade point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution’s roster throughout the final day of their respective championship seasons during the 2017-18 academic year.
The 22 awards were spread out over nine different institutions.
William & Mary led the way with four awards coming in baseball, men’s basketball, men’s track & field and men’s swimming & diving.
Drexel (women’s basketball, women’s lacrosse, women’s swimming & diving),
Hofstra (women’s soccer, men’s tennis, women’s tennis),
UNCW (women’s golf, men’s soccer, softball) and
Northeastern (women’s cross country, women’s track & field, volleyball) each had three programs recognized.
