ITA Honors 11 CAA Tennis Teams, 54 Student-Athletes With Academic Awards

RICHMOND, Va. (July 26, 2018) – Seven CAA women’s tennis teams, four CAA men’s tennis teams and 54 student-athletes from the conference were recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for their performance in the classroom during the 2017-18 academic year.
Receiving the ITA All-Academic Team award for women’s tennis were
Charleston, Delaware, Drexel, Elon, Hofstra, James Madison and
William & Mary. Earning the ITA All-Academic Team award for men’s tennis were
Drexel, Hofstra, UNCW and
William & Mary. The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2017 and spring 2018).
The CAA had 32 women’s tennis players and 22 men’s tennis players honored with ITA Scholar-Athlete status. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
