James Madison 51, William & Mary 0

James Madison (3-1, 1-0 CAA) dominated defensively and blanked William & Mary, 51-0, in the CAA opener for both teams. The Dukes limited the Tribe (1-2, 0-1 CAA) to 132 total yards and seven first downs while also forcing four turnovers. Linebacker Dimitri Holloway had a team-high nine tackles for JMU, while Jimmy Moreland made five stops and returned an interception 56 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.

For the Dukes offensively, quarterback Ben DiNucci was 17-of-23 passing for 160 yards and two touchdowns. His scoring passes came to brothers Riley and Dylan Stapleton. W&M got a career-high 11 tackles from Isaiah Laster and Alex Purviance forced two fumbles. The Tribe's Jaret Anderson ran for a team-high 35 yards on eight carries. It was JMU's CAA-record 19th-consecutive conference victory.

Stony Brook 36, Richmond 10

Stony Brook (3-1, 1-0 CAA) piled up 335 yards on the ground and pulled away for a 36-10 victory over Richmond (2-2, 0-1 CAA) to open CAA play. Running backs Jordan Gowins and Donald Liotine topped the 100-yard mark for the third straight game. Gowins tallied a career-high 192 yards and two fourth-quarter TD's, while Liotine added 133 yards. Quarterback Joe Carbone threw for 147 yards and a pair of scores.

Richmond quarterback Kevin Johnson completed 24-of-40 passes for 297 yards and the Spiders got a 37-yard TD pass from Caleb Drake to Cortrelle Simpson that brought the Spiders within 16-10 with 3:52 left in the third quarter. However, SBU answered with a 48-yard TD pass from Carbone to Donavin Washington and a pair of scoring runs from Gowins. The Seawolves also scored on an 87-yard fumble return by Gavin Heslop late in the first quarter.

Villanova 49, Bucknell 7

Villanova (3-1) jumped out to a 28-0 advantage in the first quarter and cruised past Bucknell, 49-7. The Wildcats piled up 609 yards of total offense, getting over 300 on the ground and through the air. Quarterback Zach Bednarczyk passed for 281 yards and a TD and also ran for a score. Wide receiver Josh McGrigg made five receptions for a career-high 187 yards, including a school-record 90-yard TD catch in the first quarter. Aaron Forbes ran for two touchdowns. The Wildcats' were also stout defensively, holding Bucknell to 128 total yards and forcing four turnovers. Drew Wiley paced Villanova with six tackles.

Elon 31, Charleston Southern 22

Elon (2-1) scored the final 21 points of the game and rallied for a 31-22 win at Charleston Southern. The Phoenix trailed 22-10 early in the third quarter, but got TD's from Malcolm Summers and DeSean McNair to grab the lead with 7:58 remaining. Elon put the game away on a 12-yard TD pass from Davis Cheek to Corey Joyner with 3:01 to go. Summers rushed for a team-high 150 yards on 29 carries and added a 16-yard TD reception, while McNair ran for 89 yards and 2 TD's. Davis Cheek was 19-of-26 through the air for 220 yards and 2 TD's. The Phoenix defense was led by Matt Baker wtih six tackles and two sacks.

UAlbany 35, St. Francis 28
Box Score


Vincent Testaverde completed 21-of-28 passes for 331 yards and three touchdowns to lift UAlbany (2-2) past St. Francis, 35-28. In a contest that went back-and-forth all night, Testaverde snapped a 28-28 tie when he hit freshman Dev Holmes with a 24-yard scoring strike with 7:50 remaining. Holmes had another big night, making seven receptions for 128 yards and 2 TD's, while Jerah Reeves had six catches for 104 yards and a TD. Running back Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks turned in his best night of the season with 92 yards and a TD on 19 carries and Karl Mofor also had 92 yards. 

Central Michigan 17, Maine 5

Maine (2-1) dropped a 17-5 decision at FBS foe Central Michigan despite a strong defensive performance. The Black Bears held CMU to only 177 yards in the game. Linebacker Sterling Sheffield led the effort with 10 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery, while Deshawn Stevens made eight stops and an interception. Richard Carr blocked a punt in the fourth quarter that went out of the end zone for a safety. Maine's offense was hindered by a first-quarter injury to quarterback Chris Ferguson. Redshirt freshman Isaiah Robinson passed for 162 yards, but was picked off twice. Ramon Jefferson rushed for a team-high 64 yards on 11 carries.

North Dakota State 38, Delaware 10

Delaware (2-2) fell into a 28-point hole after the opening quarter and could never recover in a 38-10 loss at top-ranked North Dakota State. The Blue Hens were limited to 152 yards of total offense and were hurt by four turnovers. Dejoun Lee ran for a team-best 42 yards on only nine carries and Vinny Papale made three catches for 58 yards. Defensively, safety Nasir Adderley recorded a team-high 11 tackles and Ray Jones added 10. Malcolm Brown returned a fumble 92 yards for Delaware's only touchdown in the fourth quarter.
