RICHMOND, Va. (September 24, 2018) – CAA Football has announced its weekly award winners for Week 4 of the 2018 season. Earning honors are Stony Brook senior running back Jordan Gowins, James Madison senior cornerback Jimmy Moreland, Stony Brook freshman defensive lineman Casey Williams and UAlbany freshman wide receiver Dev Holmes.
 
CAA Football Offensive Player of the Week
Jordan Gowins, Sr., RB, Stony Brook (Bellport, N.Y./St. Anthony’s)

Gowins rushed for a career-high 192 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries to lead Stony Brook past Richmond, 36-10, in its CAA opener. The senior running back averaged 9.1 yards per carry and sealed the win with a pair of fourth-quarter scores. It was the third straight 100-yard effort for Gowins, who leads the CAA with 510 rushing yards for the season.
 
CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week
Jimmy Moreland, Sr., CB, James Madison (Royal Palm Beach, Fla./Royal Palm Beach)

Moreland recorded five tackles, a tackle for loss, a pass breakup and also returned an interception 56 yards for a touchdown in James Madison’s 51-0 triumph over William & Mary. The senior was part of a dominant defensive effort by the Dukes, who held the Tribe to 132 total yards. It was Moreland’s league-leading third interception of the season and the second straight week he’s returned one for a TD.

Williams blocked a field goal in Stony Brook’s 36-10 win over Richmond. With the Seawolves leading just 9-3 in the second quarter, the freshman got his hands on Griffin Trau’s 43-yard field goal try. It was the second block of the year for Williams, who blocked a punt and returned it for a TD vs. Bryant on Sept. 8.

CAA Football Rookie of the Week
Dev Holmes, Fr., WR, UAlbany (Troy, N.Y./Troy)

Holmes made a team-high seven receptions for 128 yards and two touchdowns as UAlbany edged St. Francis, 35-28. The freshman caught a game-winning TD pass for the second week in a row, scoring from 24 yards out with 7:50 to go. It was the third 100+-yard effort of the year for Holmes, who leads the CAA in receptions (28) and receiving yards (587).
