Rhode Island 23, Harvard 16

JaJuan Lawson threw for one touchdown and ran for another in the first half to lead Rhode Island (3-1, 2-0 CAA) to a 23-16 victory at Harvard on Friday night. Lawson completed 12-of-16 passes for 153 yards, but was injured on a 9-yard TD run that made it 16-3 with 6:44 remaining in the second quarter. URI pushed its advantage to 23-6 when Ahmere Dorsey returned a touchdown 97 yards for a TD.
 
The Rams' defense took over from there, limiting Harvard to 285 total yards and forcing a pair of critical turnovers in the fourth quarter. D.J. Stewart picked off a pass with 3:17 to play and Justin Hogan sealed the victory by intercepting a pass in the final minute. L.B. Mack was sensational, making a career-high 11 tackles, including three for loss, and two sacks.

Elon 30, New Hampshire 9

Elon (3-1, 1-0 CAA) piled up 451 yards of total offense and defeated New Hampshire, 30-9, in its CAA Football opener. Quarterback Davis Cheek completed 24-of-31 passes for 258 yards and also ran for a TD on the opening drive that put Elon in front to stay. Wide receiver Kortez Weeks made a career-high 14 receptions for 165 yards. The Phoenix also picked up 193 yards on the ground, with Malcolm Summers tallying a team-high 124 yards and a TD on 22 carries. Elon got three field goals from Skylar Davis.

Elon's defense held New Hampshire to 218 total yards, including only 46 yards no points in the second half. Marcus Willoughby recorded nine totat tackles, including 4.5 for loss, to the pace the Phoenix. For New Hampshire (0-4, 0-2 CAA), Sean Coyne caught five passes for 25 yards and scored a touchdown on a 25-yard run that cut the UNH deficit to 14-9 with 9:18 left in the first half.

James Madison 63, Richmond 10

James Madison (4-1, 2-0 CAA) amassed 543 yards of total offense and scored in all three phases of the game in a 63-10 triumph at Richmond (2-3, 0-2 CAA). The Dukes jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead when Juwan Hamilton took the opening kickoff 93 yards for a TD and senior cornerback Jimmy Moreland returned a second-quarter interception 100 yards for his third pick-six in the last three games. Offensively, quarterback Ben DiNucci completed 19-of-26 passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Marcus Marshall picked up 99 yards and two TD's rushing on just 10 carries. The Dukes' defense forced five turnovers, with John Daka registering five tackles, 3.5 TFL and a forced fumble.

Richmond quarterback Kevin Johnson passed for 256 yards and a touchdown, but was picked off three times. Stephon Jacob made four receptions for 81 yards and a TD.

Stony Brook 29, Villanova 27

Stony Brook (4-1, 2-0 CAA) rallied from a 21-0 second-quarter deficit and edged Villanova (3-2, 0-2 CAA), 29-27, in a matchup of nationally ranked squads. SBU quarterback Joe Carbone completed 20-of-35 passes for 270 yards and 3 TD's, throwing a pair to Julius Wingate and another to Cal Daniels with 4:13 remaining that put the Seawolves ahead, 29-21. Stony Brook's defense had 10 tackles for loss and four sacks, including one by John Haggart that resulted in a safety and snapped a 21-21 tie in the third quarter.

Villanova took a 7-0 lead on its opening drive as Zach Bednarczyk hit Todd Summers with a 5-yard TD pass and went up 21-0 on a trick play as wide receiver Adeyemi DaSilva threw a 56-yard TD pass to Changa Hodge in the second quarter. Bednarczyk passed for 180 yards and ran for 27 in the contest.

Towson 44, The Citadel 27

Quarterback Tom Flacco accounted for 438 yards of total offense and four touchdowns to push Towson (3-1, 1-0 CAA) past The Citadel, 44-27, in its home opener. Flacco completed 15-of-22 passes for 253 yards and 2 TD's and ran for a career-high 185 yards and 2 TD's on 15 carries as the Tigers' offense piled up 608 total yards. Both of Flacco's rushing TD's came in the second quarter and gave Towson a 21-3 lead and his 24-yard scoring pass to Brent Richardson in the third quarter made it 38-17. Aidan O'Neill tacked on three field goals. Diondre Wallace topped the Towson defense with 12 tackles, while Monty Fenner had eight stops and an interception.

Yale 35, Maine 14

Maine was unable to overcome a 21-0 third-quarter deficit and fell 35-14 at Yale. Redshirt freshman quarterback Isaiah Robinson, who was making his first career start, finished 10-of-27 passing for 179 yards and two touchdowns. He had a 50-yard scoring pass to Earnest Edwards late in the third quarter and added a 63-yard scoring toss to Jaquan Blair in the fourth period. Jeff DeVaughn made a team-high nine tackles and Taji Lowe contributed six stops and two tackles for loss.

Colgate 23, William & Mary 0

William & Mary (1-3, 0-1 CAA) was hurt by three turnovers and suffered a 23-0 setback to Colgate in its home opener. The Raiders turned a pair of Tribe fumbles into 10 points in the first half and then took control of the contest after a TD drive to open the second half. W&M quarterback Shon Mitchell completed 27-of-39 passes for 251 yards, which was his third 200-yard effort of the season. DeVonte Dedmon made 10 receptions for 104 yards. Linebacker Nate Atkins registered a team-high eight tackles for the Tribe defense and Gage Herdman had seven stops and a fumble recovery.
