Conference notes:

HOFSTRA OWNS NATION’S LONGEST WIN STREAK: Hofstra is 17-3 overall and riding the nation’s longest winning streak at 14 games after Michigan and Virginia lost last Saturday. The Pride’s overall record after 20 games is its best-ever at the Division I level (since 1966-67). Hofstra received a vote in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for the second straight week, was #36 in Andy Katz’s Power 36 and is #48 in the NCAA NET rankings.

PRIDE REMAINS UNBEATEN IN CAA PLAY: Hofstra sits atop the CAA standings at 7-0 and remains the only unbeaten team in league play following victories over UNCW and Charleston last week. The Pride is off to its best CAA start ever. Northeastern, which is on a season-best four-game winning streak, has moved into second at 5-2. Delaware, which has won five of its last seven, is third with a 5-3 mark.

RESULTS REVERSAL: Home teams went 4-0 last Thursday night, reversing the trend from the previous Thursday when road teams completed a four-game sweep. For the season, home teams are 21-15 in league action. Six squads have already recorded two conference victories on the road.

DOWN TO THE WIRE: Conference play has resulted in plenty of close games. For the season, 17 of 36 CAA contests (47.2%) have been decided by seven points or less or in OT, including three games last Saturday.

COMEBACK KIDS: Drexel has won five games this season after trailing by double figures and the Dragons have been behind by at least 11 points in all four of their CAA wins.

HOFSTRA’S WRIGHT-FOREMAN KEEPS ROLLING: Hofstra’s Justin Wright-Foreman is currently riding a 73-game double-digit scoring streak, which is the 2nd-longest active streak in Division I. He’s scored 20 or more points in 16 of 20 games, topped the 30-point mark six times and ranks third nationally with 26.2 ppg. Last season, the CAA Player of the Year was the first player since Towson’s Gary Neal in 2007 to score 35 or more points in three CAA games. Wright-Foreman’s 755 total points were the 7th-most in CAA history and his scoring average (24.4 ppg) was the highest by a CAA player since 2006-07.

UNCW’S CACOK JUMPS TO 4TH ON CAA’S CAREER REBOUNDS LIST: Devontae Cacok, who passed Keith Rendleman (1,055) to become UNCW’s all-time leading rebounder on Jan. 12, moved up to 4th on the CAA’s all-time rebounds list with 1,090. He needs 25 more to tie Navy’s Vernon Butler for third. This season, he tops the CAA and is 5th nationally with 11.7 rpg and leads Division I with 14 double-doubles. Last season, he led the nation and set a CAA season record with 13.5 rebounds per contest. In 2016-17, Cacok set an NCAA for field goal percentage by shooting 80% from the floor. On Nov. 18 of this season, Cacok broke his own UNCW record and tied the CAA single-game record with 26 rebounds in a win over Allen on Nov. 18.

BRANTLEY, RILLER CLIMB COFC CAREER LISTS: Charleston’s Jarrell Brantley is just the 5th player in Charleston history to have at least 1,500 points (1,653) and 800 rebounds in a career (850). Junior Grant Riller moved into 10th place on CofC’s career scoring chart (1,508), giving the Cougars two teammates among the school’s top 10 in scoring for the first time since the 1970’s.

SEIBRING ENTERS TOP 10 IN CAREER POINTS AT ELON: Tyler Seibring moved into 10th place on Elon’s career scoring list with 1,602 points. The senior forward also has 692 career rebounds and is just 43 shy of the top 10 in Phoenix history in that category. He would become Elon’s first Division I player to be among the top 10 in both categories.
