Jacob Evans has been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men’s Soccer Offensive Players of the Week, while Charleston freshman
Austin Shuping earned Defensive Player of the Week and Elon midfielder
Vemund Hole Vik garnered CAA Rookie of the Week accolades.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Jacob Evans, UNCW
Junior | Forward | Chester, Cheshire, England/West Cheshire College
Evans scored the game's only goal in the 94
th minute as UNCW moved into sole possession of first place in the CAA standings with a 1-0 victory over No. 18 James Madison on Saturday night. Evans scored his second goal of the year on a sharp angle as the Seahawks ran their unbeaten streak to five consecutive games, clinching a top-two seed in the CAA Men’s Soccer Championship in the process.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Austin Shuping, Charleston
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill
Shuping helped Charleston collect a 2-0 win at Drexel, the Cougars’ first win in CAA play this season. The freshman turned aside all five Drexel shots on net to earn his second career shutout. Shuping’s five saves marked a career high as Charleston remained in the running for a CAA championship spot.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Vemund Hole Vik, Elon

In a 2-0 week for Elon, Hole Vik tallied the game-winning goal in the Phoenix’ 3-2 victory over a Duke team receiving votes in both national polls. Hole Vik’s 88
th-minute goal led the Phoenix to the program’s first win over the Blue Devils since 2014 and the second all-time in the series. The freshman tallied two shots in Elon’s 3-1 victory against Northeastern, the Phoenix’ first win in CAA play.
