2019 CAA WOMEN'S SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKET

RICHMOND, Va. (October 27, 2019) –
The field is set for the 2019 CAA Women’s Soccer Championship, headlined by Hofstra’s second regular-season title in the last three years. The Pride, which got past William & Mary, 2-1, on Sunday will be the No. 1 seed for the championship, while Delaware earned the No. 2 seed after a dramatic 3-2 overtime triumph against UNCW.

Despite the setback, UNCW will be the No. 3 seed, while Northeastern claimed the No. 4 seed after its 4-0 victory over Elon on Sunday. Elon will be the No. 5 seed, while James Madison garnered the No. 6 seed for the championship after defeating Drexel, 3-0, in Sunday’s finale.

Hofstra will host first round and semifinal matches on Friday, Nov. 1, and Sunday, Nov. 3. The Pride will face the winner of the match between Northeastern and Elon.

On the opposite side of the bracket, Delaware will also host first round and semifinal matches on Friday and Sunday, meeting the winner of the match between UNCW and James Madison.

The highest remaining seed will host the CAA Women’s Soccer Championship on Saturday, Nov. 9, with the winner earning the CAA’s automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship.

Hofstra (13-3-2, 7-0-2 CAA) will bring a 13-match unbeaten streak into the championship, the longest active streak in the nation. The two-time defending CAA champion Pride are earning votes in the United Soccer Coaches top 25 and boast a top-15 NCAA RPI through Oct. 21. Entering the championship, the Pride have the top three scorers in the CAA in Lucy Porter, Miri Taylor and Sabrina Bryan.

Delaware (12-6, 7-2 CAA) used two home wins on the final weekend of the regular season to jump into second place and the No. 2 seed for the championship, which is its highest ever. The Blue Hens have relied on a stout defense throughout the year, recording nine shutouts and holding 18 of its last 23 opponents to one goal or fewer dating back to 2018.

UNCW (10-5-1, 6-2-1 CAA) put together a seven-match unbeaten streak in the middle of CAA play to return to the CAA championship for the first time since 2016. Earning the program’s best seed since 2015, the Seahawks will be looking for the program’s first CAA title since 2009.

Northeastern (8-9-1, 5-3-1 CAA) earned the program’s ninth consecutive CAA women’s soccer championship appearance, the longest active streak in the CAA. The Huskies, who last captured the CAA title in 2016, enter the championship having won four consecutive matches.

Elon (11-5-2, 5-3-1 CAA) scored 39 goals in the regular season on its way to making the program’s first CAA women’s soccer championship appearance. The Phoenix lost just once in nine matches at Rudd Field this season and have been shutout just twice in the last four weeks of the regular season.

James Madison (7-11-1, 4-4-1 CAA) collected its seventh straight CAA women’s soccer championship bid and will be looking to win the title for the first time since 2015. The Dukes scored 22 goals in CAA play, second-most in conference action.

All five matches of the championship will be streamed live on FloSports, which is available on computers and on mobile devices as well as Roku, AppleTV, Amazon Fire and other OTT platforms.
