RICHMOND, Va. (Oct. 28, 2019) – James Madison’s Manuel Ferriol and Hofstra's Matthew Vowinkel were named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Week, while UNCW’s Wilhelm Nilsson earned CAA Defensive Player of the Week honors. William & Mary's Alfredo Bozalongo collected CAA Rookie of the Week honors.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Manuel Ferriol, James Madison
Senior | Midfielder | Valencia, Spain
Ferriol had a hot week for the Dukes, collecting two goal and two assists, in route to clinching a second seed in the CAA tournament. Ferriol collected an assist against Penn State in the Dukes 1-1 draw, before having a hand in all three goals at Charleston Saturday. Ferriol scored the first two of the match, before assisting on the final goal by Brennen Burton. His 14 goals lead the CAA and moves him into third in the country.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Matthew Vowinkel, Hofstra
Junior | Forward | New Hyde Park, N.Y./Chaminade
Vowinkel scored three goals for a hat trick in a 5-0 win against Delaware. All three goals came in the second half. It marked a career-high In goals for the junior and is the first hat trick for a Pride player since 2005.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Wilhelm Nilsson, UNCW
Senior | Defender | Stockholm, Sweden/Bromma Gymnasium
Nilsson scored his first goal of the season in the 73rd minute as UNCW secured the regular season title with a 3-1 victory over Drexel on Saturday evening. The senior defender played all 90 minutes in the win and helped the Seahawks remain unbeaten in CAA play at 6-0-1.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Alfredo Bozalongo, William & Mary
Freshman | Midfielder | Logrono, La Rioja, Spain/Agustinas
Bozalongo finished with the CAA’s lone three-assist match this season with three helpers in W&M’s 5-1 win over Delaware on Tuesday night. He assisted on the game-winner, serving in a corner kick to Tanner Shane in the 54th minute. Bozalongo tallied all nine of his points (2g, 5a) in CAA play and leads the league with five assists.
