TOWSON, Md. – Towson quarterback Tom Flacco was selected as a 2019 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American® for football, it was announced by the organization on Monday.

The redshirt senior was selected to the Academic All-America Second Team, one of two quarterbacks in Division I, FCS and FBS, to be voted to the squad.  He earned his undergraduate degree in 2018 from Rutgers University with a 4.00 GPA and currently has a 3.80 GPA for his Master’s Degree, majoring in applied information technology.

Flacco becomes the first-ever Towson student-athlete to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors in two different sports.  He was a 2019 Second Team Academic All-America® in baseball as an outfielder.  He is also the first Towson student-athlete to be named an Academic All-American® multiple times since Zach Fisher, a Tiger baseball player, was a three-time honoree from 2012-14.

On the field, Flacco earned second-team All-CAA honors in 2019 and was a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, given to the top offensive player in FCS football.  He started all 12 games at quarterback, throwing for 2,831 yards, 22 touchdowns and just six interceptions.  He finished his Towson career in the top-8 in passing touchdowns, passing yards and passing completions in program history.
