Alex Woodall has been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week, while Hofstra freshman midfielder
Matt Elder collected Men’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week honors.
MEN’S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Alex Woodall, Towson
Senior | Faceoff Specialist | Annapolis, Md./St. Mary’s
In Towson’s season-opening 17-8 victory over No. 7/7 Johns Hopkins, Woodall dominated the face-off spot, winning 21-of-28 draws and collecting 17 ground balls. Woodall added one goal and two assists in the win, all coming directly after face-off wins. Woodall’s final assist on Brendan Sunday’s sixth goal came just three seconds after a Johns Hopkins tally, matching the NCAA record for fastest goals between opponents.
MEN’S LACROSSE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Matt Elder, Hofstra
Freshman | Midfielder | Mooresville, N.C./Lake Norman
Making his Hofstra debut, Elder made the Pride’s game at No. 13/13 Lehigh one to remember, netting the game-winning goal with 1:42 to play in regulation to break a 3-3 tie. Elder’s goal capped a three-goal rally for Hofstra, which trailed, 3-1, at the start of the fourth quarter. The freshman recorded three shots in the contest.
