RICHMOND, Va. (March 25, 2019) – Drexel’s Linda Rush was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) softball Player of the Week, while Hofstra’s Madison Burns earned CAA Pitcher of the Week honors. UNCW’s Jada Santiago was named CAA Rookie of the Week.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Linda Rush, Drexel
Junior | Shortstop | Pittsburgh, Pa./Canon McMillan
Rush went 4-for-12 with seven RBI, five runs, and three home runs in a three-game sweep on Delaware to open CAA play. It was the Dragons’ first CAA sweep since 2011 and Drexel starts CAA play 3-0 for the first time since 2008. Rush had four RBI in the Dragons’ series opener and two home runs.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Madison Burns, Hofstra

Burns earned both of the Pride's victories in a 2-1 week at Charleston, improving to 8-6 on the year with two complete games. She posted a 0.50 ERA surrendering just one earned run through 14.0 innings pitched and did not allow a run until the 14th inning she pitched this weekend. Burns finished the week with 16.2 innings pitched and a 0.42 ERA, 2-0 record with three appearances, one save and seven strikeouts.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Jada Santiago, UNCW
Freshman | Catcher/Infield | Pine Level, N.C./North Johnston
Santiago batted .500 with two home runs and six runs batted in as the Seahawks authored a 4-1 record last week, including winning 2-of-3 games against Towson in their CAA opener. The freshman, who is the lone Seahawk to start every game this season, opened the week by going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored in a doubleheader sweep against Canisius on Tuesday. In the series with Towson, she hit 4-for-8 with two runs scored and three RBI, including a solo home run in the second game on Saturday. Santiago is hitting .320 on the season and leads the team with 31 hits.
