JMU's Alexander Named USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. (April 30, 2019) – After another stellar week at the plate and in the circle, James Madison junior pitcher Odicci Alexander has been named the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Week, USA Softball announced today.
 
Alexander led the Dukes to a 5-0 week, with wins against Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) foe Drexel and in-state rival, Virginia. The junior batted 8-for-16 (.500) on the week and drove in a total of 13 runs. In the final two games in James Madison’s series against Drexel, Alexander drove in 11 runs and hit two homeruns in back-to-back games.
 
In the circle, Alexander pitched 14 innings total against Virginia and Drexel, including 10 IP against the Dragons. She struck out 15 batters, including 10 in the first game against Drexel, and allowed just four earned runs all week.
 
With the three wins last week, Alexander moves to 19-1 this season in the circle and is second in the CAA with a 1.82 ERA. She has fanned 133 batter, also good for second in the CAA.
