CAA Women's Soccer Weekly Awards - Aug. 26
RICHMOND, Va. (Aug. 26, 2019) – UNCW freshman forward
Emily Moxley has been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Delaware’s
Kamryn Stablein earned Defensive Player of the Week and Elon forward
Bethany Harford garnered CAA Rookie of the Week accolades.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Emily Moxley, UNCW
Freshman | Forward | Cary, N.C./Panther Creek
Moxley was involved in three of the Seahawks' five goals during the opening weekend of the season as UNCW went 2-0-0 with a pair of wins at the Charleston Under Armour Invitational. The freshman forward from Cary, N.C., scored the game-winning goal in the Seahawks' 2-1 comeback win over Furman on Friday evening before adding a goal and an assist in a 3-0 triumph over Stephen F. Austin on Sunday.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Kamryn Stablein, Delaware
Sophomore | Goalkeeper | Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain
Stablein turned in 10 saves across back-to-back shutouts as Delaware opened the season with two clean sheets for the first time in 11 years. After posting one save in a 2-0 win at Lehigh to begin the year, Stablein turned aside nine Lafayette shots in a 2-0 victory at Lafayette in which the Blue Hens played a man down for 80 of the match’s 90 minutes.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Bethany Harford, Elon
Freshman | Forward
In her first collegiate match, Harford scored the game-winning goal in Elon’s 1-0 victory over Canisius. Harford’s 95
th-minute goal came after she controlled the ball off of a corner kick, took one touch from inside the box on the right side and fired across her body into the upper left corner of the net.
