CAA Women's Soccer Weekly Awards - Sept. 30

RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 30, 2019) – Hofstra sophomore midfielder Miri Taylor has been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women’s Soccer Offensive Players of the Week, while Northeastern’s Mikenna McManus earned Defensive Player of the Week and Charleston forward Grace Powell garnered CAA Rookie of the Week accolades.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Miri Taylor, Hofstra
Sophomore | Midfielder | Gillingham, England/Rainham School for Girls
Taylor recorded six points in a 2-0 week for Hofstra in which the Pride extended its winning streak to six with wins over Drexel and Elon. The sophomore assisted on the equalizing goal before tallying the game-winning goal in overtime in a 2-1 victory against the Dragons. On Sunday, Taylor assisted on the eventual game-winning goal and added her fourth goal of the season in a 5-0 win over Elon.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Mikenna McManus, Northeastern
Junior | Defender | Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro
McManus led a Northeastern backline that posted the team’s second shutout of the season in a 6-0 victory over Towson. The junior scored her first career goal and chipped in two assists in the win. McManus played all 90 minutes in a 2-0 setback at UNCW.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Grace Powell, Charleston
Freshman | Forward | Daniel Island, S.C./Pinewood Preparatory Academy
In Charleston’s CAA opener against Delaware, Powell notched the eventual game-winning goal in the 10th minute. The goal was her second of the season. The victory pushed Charleston’s winning streak to four matches, which the Cougars extened to five with a 1-0 win at Drexel on Sunday.
