Drexel 59, Towson 50
Bailey Greenberg led the Dragons with 19 points as Drexel took down Towson at home for its seventh straight win and moved to 7-1 in CAA play and maintained its tie with James Madison for first place in the CAA standings. The Dragons’ Aubree Brown tallied seven rebounds and six assists in the contest. Drexel controlled the first half, closing the first quarter with a 23-15 lead and extending that lead further to a 41-27 margin at the half. The difference in the game was beyond the arc, where Drexel shot 36 percent compared to Towson’s 8 percent. Towson was able to pull within three with just under four minutes to play in the game, but Drexel made some clutch shots down the stretch to shut the door on the Tiger comeback.
The Tigers fell to 5-3 in CAA play. Nukiya Mayo, Q. Murray, and Kionna Jeter led Towson with 13 points each, and Mayo collected 11 rebounds for her sixth double-double in seven games.
William & Mary 84, Elon 77
Eva Hodgson tallied a career-high 34 points, which was also a season-high among all CAA players, to lift William & Mary to a big road win over Elon to move to 5-4 in CAA play. Elon held a small lead from in the first quarter, but the Tribe snagged the lead with four minutes to go in the first and never looked back, leading by as many as 14 throughout the game.
Elon’s Brie Perpignan had a night of her own, tallying 26 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field. Kayla Liles had a game-high eight rebounds. The Phoenix dropped to 4-5 in CAA play.
Northeastern 72, Charleston 68
Stella Clark and Alexis Hill led a balanced offensive attack for Northeastern over Charleston at home, as the Huskies moved to 5-3 in CAA play. Clark and Hill tallied a game-high 19 points, and Clark added seven assists and seven rebounds to her line. Northeastern jumped out a 17-9 lead after the first quarter, but Charleston narrowed the margin to 28-26 at the half. The Huskies jumped out to an 8-0 run out of the break and pushed its lead to double-digits in the fourth quarter, leading by as many as 17.
Tyler Collins led the Cougars with 18 points, but Charleston to 3-5 in CAA play.
UNCW 62, Hofstra 59
Lacey Suggs led a trio of Seahawks in double-digits with a game-high 17 points and seven rebounds as UNCW held off a comeback bid by Hofstra on the road to move to 3-5 in CAA play. The Seahawks led for most of the game and by as many 13. Hofstra pulled within one with just 47 seconds to play following an 8-0 run capped by a three-pointer by Ana Hernandex Gil. UNCW’s Moriah Crisp nailed a jumper and GiGi Smith knocked down two free throws to push the Seahawks’ lead back to five points.
Hofstra fell to 0-8 in CAA play. Jaylen Hines led the Pride with 16 points and nine rebounds.
James Madison 60, Delaware 39
Kamiah Smalls cruised to a double-double performance in James Madison’s big road win at Delaware, tallying a game-high 18 points and 12 rebounds. The Dukes captured their fifth win in a row after commanding the game from the outset and took a 35-24 lead into halftime. James Madison took a 21-point lead, its largest lead of the game, with a 1:42 left in the game. The Dukes were more efficient from the floor, shooting 40 percent compared to Delaware’s 22 percent.
Delaware fell to 2-6 in CAA play and was led by Jasmine Dickey with eight points and 15 rebounds.
