Grant Riller have been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men’s Basketball Players of the Week, while Northeastern guard
Tyson Walker earned CAA Rookie of the Week accolades.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK:
Nathan Knight, William & Mary
Senior | Center | Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham (Kimball Union Academy)
For the third time this season, Knight earns player of the week honors, this time after notching two double-doubles as William & Mary opened 3-0 on the road in CAA play. Knight opened the week by going 7-for-7 from the field, finishing with 15 points and 12 rebounds in the Tribe’s win at Hofstra. On Saturday, Knight posted 23 points and 11 rebounds, including the game-winning basket with 1.1 seconds left in a 66-64 victory. Knight’s 12 double-doubles lead the NCAA.
Grant Riller, Charleston
Senior | Guard | Ocoee, Fla./Ocoee
Averaging 28.5 points to go along with 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in a 2-0 week for Charleston, Riller climbed into second on the Charleston career scoring list and into 10
th in CAA history with 2,151 career points. The senior started the week with 28 points and eight rebounds in the Cougars’ win over Towson, going 3-of-6 from 3-point range. On Saturday, Riller posted a season-high 31 points as Charleston improved to 4-0 in CAA play for the first time since 2016-17.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Tyson Walker, Northeastern
Freshman | Guard | Westbury, N.Y./New Hampton School
Walker earns rookie of the week accolades for the fourth time this season after a week in which he averaged 21.0 points, 2.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game. The freshman erupted for 32 points in Northeastern’s 77-68 win over Elon, the fifth-best total by a freshman in Northeastern history. On the week, Walker was 17-for-29 from the field, including a 12-of-17 performance on Thursday.
HONOR ROLL:
Desure Buie, Hofstra | Senior | Guard | Bronx, N.Y./Wings Academy
Buie posted 44 points in Hofstra’s 102-75 win over Elon, matching the sixth-best total in CAA history. The senior was 15-of-19 from the field, hitting 6-of-8 3-pointers as he went over 1,000 career points.
Allen Betrand, Towson | Sophomore | Guard | Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic
In a 1-1 road trip for Towson, Betrand led the Tigers by averaging 17.5 points per game. The sophomore posted a career-high 19 points at Charleston before a 16-point effort in Towson’s win at UNCW.
Dwight Wilson, James Madison | Junior | Forward | Tallahassee, Fla./Lincoln
Wilson posted a pair of double-doubles in JMU’s swing through UNCW and Charleston, pushing his streak to eight games. At UNCW, Wilson matched his season-high with 15 boards to go along with 11 points before a 23-point, 14-rebound effort at Charleston.
Camren Wynter, Drexel | Sophomore | Guard | Hempstead, N.Y./Holy Trinity [DME (Fla.) Academy]
In Drexel’s 61-55 win over visiting Delaware, Wynter led the Dragons with 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Wynter added five assists, his 10
th game this season with five or more assists.
