Hofstra's Buie, Coburn Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

RICHMOND, Va. (Feb. 20, 2020) – Hofstra senior guard Desure Buie and junior guard Tareq Coburn have both been named to the 2019-20 Academic All-District Men’s Basketball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA). This honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
 
Both Buie and Coburn were selected to the first team in District 1, which comprises Division I institutions in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
 
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced between March 9-12.
 
Buie, who has a 3.92 graduate grade point average in higher education, leadership, and policy studies, earned his undergraduate degree in linguistics with a 3.32 GPA. The senior is seventh in the CAA in scoring at 18.1 points per game while leading the conference with 5.6 assists per game.
 
Coburn currently carries a 3.65 GPA as a community health major. The junior is one of five Pride players among the top 25 scorers in the CAA, averaging 10.7 ppg. One of the top rebounding guards in the CAA, Coburn is pulling down 5.7 rebounds per game.
 
The duo have helped Hofstra build a 20-7 overall record and an 11-3 mark in CAA play, good for first place in the conference heading into Thursday night’s game at Drexel (7 p.m. ET, FloHoops).
